Gladwin Shitolo reveals expectations from Golden Arrows boss

Golden Arrows veteran defender Gladwin Shitolo has shared what chairlady Mato Madlala is expecting from the team, especially the senior players.

Abafana Bes’thende have had some challenges this season, which has already seen coach Mabhuti Khenyeza leaving the club, with Musa Bilankulu and Kagisho Dikgacoi holding the reins.

Shitolo, speaking to host Victor Molefe on Ukhozi FM, says taking responsibility in the team is what the boss lady expects from the players.

"What we want to achieve is to take one game at a time, and we're looking at the Nedbank Cup – not to have too much focus on it, but we take it as an opportunity to see how far we can go," said Shitolo.

"When it comes to the Chairlady, she just said we need to take responsibility as senior players, and just do it for the team, work as a unit, and we shall prosper."

The former Orlando Pirates centre-back says their recent spate of results, which has seen them undefeated in their last three outings, including a win against Kaizer Chiefs in their most recent match, suggests it could be a good year for the club.

"I think it's very important [to start well] because obviously, when you go into a new year, you have new expectations – coming from a loss against Richards Bay last year," he added.

"We started with AmaZulu and missed chances, so you see there's light, and then winning against Kaizer Chiefs is just an amazing feeling – it shows we are going to have a great year."
