Hansi Flick embraces Barca youth, but Hector Fort faces uncertain path

In his debut match as FC Barcelona manager, Hansi Flick has made it clear that youth talent would remain a cornerstone of the team.

Youngsters Pau Cubarsi, Marc Bernal and Marc Casado all started, while Pau Victor and Gerard Martin came off the bench.

However, one notable absence was teenage full-back Hector Fort, who had impressed last season but was left out against Valencia.

Sources suggest that Flick is not entirely convinced by the 18-year-old Fort.

The youngster, who made his first-team debut under former manager Xavi Hernandez, had previously been a regular feature in the squad. Known for his versatility, Fort excelled both at right-back and as a makeshift left-back, showcasing his potential.

Despite his strong start under Xavi, Fort's involvement has dwindled under Flick.

He started in the pre-season friendly against Manchester City but saw reduced minutes afterward, including a brief 20-minute appearance in the Joan Gamper trophy game.

Adding to Fort's uncertain future is Barcelona's reported interest in Marc Pubill from UD Almeria.

The Catalan club are allegedly preparing a €5 million loan offer with a €12 million buy option for the Olympic gold medalist.

If Pubill joins, Barcelona may be forced to sacrifice Fort, just months after renewing his contract.
