The coach criticised the referee's decision but expressed confidence in his squad's ability to bounce back quickly.
"I believe it was a quality goal, and I think it was wrongly disallowed," Flick said. "Today wasn't our day. We made some poor decisions in attack, but we have to accept that.
"As for Lamine (Yamal), the doctors will liaise with the Federation, but he wasn't fit to play today. The Federation will make the right call. I've been in that situation before, and as coaches, we have to respect their decision."
On the disallowed goal, Flick shared, "I wasn't too angry, just a bit frustrated. I told the referee it was a valid goal, and the decision was wrong. It wasn't offside. If it had stood, it could have been a different game for us, but it wasn't meant to be."
Reflecting on the 1-0 defeat, he added, "The responsibility for the loss is on us. We could have played much better. We were solid for the first 15 minutes, but in the end, we didn't manage to win.
"We haven't been strong enough, but I still value what the team has done so far. We finished the match together, and that's important."
Meanwhile, Lamine Yamal will undergo medical tests on Monday after missing the match due to physical discomfort. The Barcelona forward has been struggling with a right ankle injury he sustained in their Champions League match against Red Star Belgrade.
Although Yamal trained in the gym on Saturday, he was not deemed fit for selection against Real Sociedad.
Barcelona announced that the player would be evaluated further to determine the severity of the injury, with results to be shared with the Spanish national team, who have called him up for upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against Denmark and Switzerland.
A statement from the club noted, "The player is unavailable, and his recovery will determine his availability for future matches."
