Coach Vincent Kompany, speaking at the pre-match press conference, expressed optimism about the squad's condition post-training. "If things go as well on Friday as they did in training yesterday, we're in good shape," Kompany stated, indicating his satisfaction with the week's training regimen.
Despite the positive news, Kompany kept his cards close to his chest regarding starting line-ups. "I won't say whether he'll start or not. The final training session is still important today.
"If everything goes well, he'll definitely play a part tomorrow," he said, referring to Kane who had been out of action but has been back with the team since Monday.
On another front, Bayern are nearing a contract extension with their stalwart goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer.
Max Eberl, the club's board member for sport, confirmed that negotiations are in advanced stages. "The talks are definitely going in the direction that we can imagine [an extension], and Manu can imagine it as well. Now we just have to clarify and discuss the final details," Eberl commented, underscoring the intent to keep Neuer, who has been with the club since 2011, until at least 2026, despite his current absence due to a broken rib.
For RB Leipzig, there's good news with David Raum potentially returning, though only for a brief appearance. "He could be an option for five, 10 or 15 minutes," said Leipzig coach Marco Rose, acknowledging Raum's recovery from an ankle ligament injury.
However, Xavi Simons will not be ready for this game, with Rose explaining, "With Xavi, we've decided that it doesn't make sense yet. He will train here in Leipzig today and tomorrow so that he can be fully fit on January 2, when we start again after the break."
Leipzig also face challenges with several players sidelined, including Yussuf Poulsen, Castello Jr., and Eljif Elmas, while Kevin Kampl and Amadou Haidara's participation will depend on a last-minute fitness check.
This match promises to be a tactical battle, with both teams dealing with injury concerns yet boosted by key player returns. Bayern will look to leverage their home advantage and the return of key players to end the year on a high note, while Leipzig aims to challenge with whatever strength they can muster.
