Harry Kane dismisses criticism as Bayern Munich prepare for PSG showdown

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, the England captain addressed accusations that he fails to deliver in high-stakes matches. Kane, who has scored 64 goals in 62 games since joining Bayern from Tottenham last summer, was firm in his defence.

"It's a bit far off the mark," Kane said. "I scored against big teams last season. I try to score in every game and help the team. We've got a big week ahead."

Kane emphasised that his contributions go beyond goals, adding: "If we get three wins now and I don't score, I'll still be happy. Like I always do, I won't just judge my performances on goals."

Bayern face a critical encounter against PSG, with the Bavarians currently sitting mid-table on the Champions League ladder with six points from four matches.

Manager Vincent Kompany also spoke on Monday, providing updates on the squad and sharing his perspective on the new Champions League format.

Kompany confirmed that midfielder Aleksandar Pavlovic, sidelined since October with a broken collarbone, is progressing well in his recovery but remains unavailable for selection.

"Pavlovic isn't fully involved in training yet," Kompany said. "Things are going well and quickly, but it'll still be a while.

"The important thing is that we won't apply too much pressure. He should come back 100 percent fit. It won't be this week."

Reflecting on the group stage, Kompany remarked: "The new format is interesting, but the table is tricky to interpret. Some teams have faced tougher fixtures than others. Our goal is to finish top. For now, we're focused on beating PSG tomorrow."

Bayern will hope Kane continues his red-hot form as they aim to strengthen their position in Europe's elite competition.
