How Chiefs shut down Bucs attacking trio

Kaizer Chiefs defender Edmilson Dove has explained how Amakhosi shut down the Orlando Pirates attacking trio of Thembinkosi Lorch, Vincent Pule and Monnapule Saleng to win the Soweto Derby at the weekend.

The Glamour Boys registered their fifth straight league victory over the Buccaneers thanks to an own goal by centre back Olisa Ndah.

Dove was awarded the Man of the Match.

"I guess we stuck to the plan. We knew that Saleng, Lorch and Pule are quick on transition so we had to keep the backline tight and obviously move as a team," he said.

Chiefs kept a clean sheet, and Dove insisted that it was a collective effort.

"I think defending starts from the front and the front guys played a huge role on that. So, congratulations to the whole team. All the guys did well today, it's a team effort, it's a team win and our supporters being here to push us means a lot and we are really grateful," he added.

Dove returned to the Amakhosi line-up to replace Austin Dube following their 3-2 defeat against Golden Arrows a week ago.

His impact was evident.

"Last week I wasn't playing because I was sick but fortunately, I'm here for the derby. It feels great to come out here, in a big stage like this and walk out with all the three points. Credit to the whole team," he concluded.
