Inaki Williams' arrival at AFCON delayed with illness

Inaki Williams' involvement at the Africa Cup of Nations is in doubt after he was reported to be suffering with an illness.

The Athletic Bilbao striker Inaki Williams was set to meet up with the Ghana national team in camp in Kumasi on January 2.

He is now expected to take time to recover before potentially linking up with the squad at a later date.

An Athletic statement read: "Athletic Club player Inaki Williams has been assessed by the red and white medical services earlier in the day at Lezama and is suffering from an illness which requires him rest. He has received treatment.

"He will be assessed tomorrow so that he can travel and join the Ghana training camp as soon as possible. The medical services of the Ghanaian federation have been informed of the condition of the player."

Williams made his debut for Ghana in 2022 and was a part of their World Cup squad in Qatar. He is yet to play at an AFCON tournament.
