Last year, South Africa were in shambles as the technical team scrambled to put a team together, and eventually failed to progress from the group stage.
In the 2024 edition, which will be played in Gqeberha from 22 October to 2 November, Banyana have been drawn against Namibia, Eswatini, and Seychelles, and Ludwig says they have to show what they are capable of.
"Personally, I'm trying not to think about that. We're a different squad, and I think it's important for us to just prove as individuals and a new squad, what we're capable of," said Ludwig.
"We also have to especially show everyone that we're not the 'B' team, that we can play, and that we deserve to be called up.
"I think it's a good draw, I mean, either way you're going to have your tough games and easier games, but ultimately you need to get the three points, so we need to push from the beginning and that will make it easier for us."
It is just over a year since Ludwig got her first national team call-up, as made her debut in the chaotic friendly international against Botswana at the Tsakane Stadium shortly before the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
However, she is excited to don the national colours once again.
"Yes, definitely, I think it's a great opportunity, so I'm hoping to do my best, push my hardest and see what comes from it," she added.
"I obviously don't have an influence on that, but I think I've been putting in the work and I'm happy that it's finally being seen, so I'm grateful for the opportunity."
