Jamal Musiala expected to sign Bayern Munich contract extension soon

Jamal Musiala, the young German sensation, is poised to commit his long-term future to Bayern Munich.

According to Sky Germany, Musiala and his representatives are in advanced talks to extend his contract, with expectations that a deal will be finalized by February at the latest.

The proposed agreement is performance-based, potentially running until 2029 or 2030, with an annual remuneration package amounting to 25 million euros. Initially, Musiala's camp had higher salary expectations, but they have since adjusted their demands by 4 to 5 million euros to align with Bayern's offer.

There have been rumours about a release clause of around 175 million euros being part of the negotiations, which could add complexity to the discussions.

However, Sky Germany clarified that while such a clause has been discussed, it is not a definitive part of the contract yet. Notably, no player has ever transferred out of the Bundesliga for such a sum.

On the pitch, Musiala's availability for Bayern's upcoming Bundesliga match against Borussia Monchengladbach is in question. The 20-year-old missed training on Wednesday due to a cold, casting doubt on his participation.

After Bayern's convincing 6-0 friendly win over RB Salzburg, where Musiala was also absent, Bayern's board member for sport, Max Eberl, was optimistic, stating, "Jamal has a slight cold, nothing serious. So we're very, very positive about Saturday."

In Musiala's potential absence, Thomas Muller, who filled the role in the Salzburg match, might take up the attacking midfield position.

Additionally, Bayern face another injury concern with goalkeeper Daniel Peretz.

The club confirmed that Peretz sustained a kidney contusion during training and will be out indefinitely.

Peretz, who had stepped up in the absence of Manuel Neuer and Sven Ulreich, was a key player in Bayern's last five matches of 2024. However, there's hope that Neuer, who has returned to full training, will be fit to play against Gladbach.

Bayern Munich are dealing with these challenges as they aim to maintain their dominance in the Bundesliga, managing both the strategic aspects of contract negotiations and the immediate concerns of player fitness.
