Jamal Musiala's header keeps Bayern Munich's Champions League hopes alive

Bayern Munich claimed a crucial 1-0 victory over Benfica at the Allianz Arena in their fourth Champions League group match, a win secured by Jamal Musiala's pinpoint header in the 70th minute.

The German giants, managed by Vincent Kompany, faced a resilient Benfica side determined to frustrate their hosts with a deep defensive line and limited offensive ambition.

Yet, despite the visitors' compact setup, Bayern's relentless pressure ultimately paid off.

From the start, Bayern dominated possession, dictating the tempo while Benfica sat back with a five-man defence, hoping to absorb the attack and strike on the counter.

However, Bruno Lage's team struggled to make any headway, failing to register a single shot on target against Bayern's keeper, Manuel Neuer, who remained unchallenged throughout the night.

Bayern's breakthrough began to take shape in the second half when substitute Leroy Sane brought a fresh spark to their offence.

Benfica's goalkeeper, Anatoliy Trubin, managed several impressive saves, including one close-range effort from Sane, but his resilience couldn't last.

Harry Kane's header from the far post set up Musiala, who calmly nodded the ball into the net, putting Bayern ahead.

This win boosted Bayern's points tally to six, keeping them on track alongside European powerhouses FC Barcelona and Liverpool in the standings.

Musiala's goal underscored Bayern's intent to progress in the tournament, while Benfica's limited response left them searching for answers ahead of their next fixture.
