This, after a lacklustre season under former coach Thomas Tuchel.
Following a third-place finish in the 2023/24 Bundesliga season, Kompany has guided Bayern back to the top, leading by five points after 10 games, ahead of rivals RB Leipzig.
Reflecting on Bayern's strong start, Hoeness told Kicker, "It doesn't get any better." The shift in momentum has allowed Bayern fans and officials to relax during the international break while other clubs, such as Borussia Dortmund and reigning champions Bayer Leverkusen, continue to battle inconsistency.
Despite Bayern's impressive domestic form, their Champions League journey has been less convincing, as they've secured just six points from their first four European matches.
However, they look to reinforce their Bundesliga lead as they face Augsburg at home after the international break.
In addition to Kompany's influence on the pitch, Bayern recently made a significant move off it, extending CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen's contract until 2027. Dreesen, who stepped into the role in 2023 amid turbulent times following Oliver Kahn's dismissal, has been praised for restoring stability to the club.
Bayern president Herbert Hainer emphasised Dreesen's contributions, saying, "He led FC Bayern back into calmer waters in a short space of time. We are certain he's the right person to tackle the upcoming challenges and achieve Bayern's ambitious goals."
Grateful for the confidence shown by Bayern's supervisory board, Dreesen remarked, "FC Bayern has always been a matter close to my heart. Together with my colleagues, I aim to keep Bayern as one of Europe's top clubs, both in sport and business, while upholding our Bavarian traditions."
Dreesen's association with Bayern spans more than a decade, having joined as chief financial officer in 2013 before rising to deputy chairman the following year.
With Kompany revitalising Bayern's on-field performance and Dreesen securing the club's future off it, Bayern Munich's ambitions are firmly back on track.
