Jayden Adams dropped for bad behaviour - Hugo Broos

In his latest show of non-tolerance to ill-discipline in camp, Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has dropped Stellenbosch FC midfielder from the squad to face Congo in back-to-back Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers this week.

SABC Sport has learnt that Adams did not arrive in Gqeberha as initially planned with the rest of the team yesterday.

Adams had played for Stellies in Saturday’s MTN8 final defeat to Orlando Pirates in Durban, but failed to report for duty in Gqeberha, despite his club teammate Fawaaz Basadien’s presence in camp.

"Jayden Adams is replaced by [Sinoxolo] Kwayiba – why? I will not give so much comment about that, but the behaviour of Jayden forced me to put him out of the team," said Broos.

Adams’ situation also comes at a time when Bafana’s midfield is already depleted with key midfielders Siphephelo Sithole and Thalente Mbatha having been withdrawn from the squad due to injury.

Broos says it’s now up to Adams, who was part of the AFCON bronze-winning squad earlier this year, to get his head right.

"A good professional attitude is the – ja, if you ask something about a player, it's that they are professionals, so if I feel that a guy doesn't have that attitude, then for me it's done," he added.

"He's not a guy who is 16, he's not an old player either, but if he has the attitude that he had, the only thing I can do is get him out of the group, because this is not what I want from players.

"In the past months, several times I said, 'What a group I have.' I was so happy with the group – the right attitude, the right behaviour, professional, and everything you want.

"So, I can't afford to let someone in that doesn't have that attitude anymore, so it's up to Jayden now to think about it, on what he's going to do with his future."

Another replacement is Bathusi Aubusson coming in for Thalente Mbatha, who was forced off with an injury in the MTN8 Final on Saturday.
