Riveiro was speaking after seeing Kimvuidi come on in the second half to score during the 4-0 demolition of the Malagasy side Disciples in the CAF Champions League first preliminary round, second leg encounter at Orlando Stadium on Friday.
Kimvuidi has played a total of 60 minutes in three matches coming from the bench so far this season. Riveiro expects to see more from the 22-year-old.
"I think it can only help him to use the time that he's getting, it's difficult to get playtime in this group, especially in the position where Karim used to play in one of the three players upfront,” Riveiro said.
“One of the three forwards today, he played in a slightly different space than the space that he used to play that's what the players need to do whenever they are coming to the field, I mean 12, 15, 20, 30 [minutes], show who they are as a football player. Who they are during the week in training, how well prepared they are and don't miss your opportunities."
Kimvuidi, who joined Pirates last season from Maritzburg United (now Durban City), scored only two goals and didn’t provide an assist in the 22 games he played in all competitions last season.
But Riveiro believes that this goal, so early in the new season, will spur him on.
"And today, Karim, well let's say the goal is a very positive thing. I think it's gonna help him to be more confident the next time also for the fans to see Karim scoring, I think it's very good news which is not probably his strength.
“He used to be the player on the last pass or second last pass but it's good news for all of us and Karim is trying hard. So, I think we are all happy to see Karim happy."
