Jose Riveiro: No dramatising after Magesi FC defeat

Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro says there is no secret formula to bouncing back, but stressed there is a clear stance around dramatising of mistakes and defeats in their camp.

The Buccaneers quickly shrugged off their shock Carling Knockout first-round exit at the hands of Magesi FC at the week end, and beat SuperSport United 2-0 in a Betway Premiership encounter at Orlando Stadium on Tuesday.

Riveiro, who was gracious following Saturday's defeat, shared insight into their ability to shrug off the disappointment of a cup exit and put out a convincing performance just three days later.

"I wish there was a secret or a formula to doing it. When you have games like our game a few days ago [against Magesi], in the end it's in your hands," said Riveiro.

"You can dramatise for one, two or three weeks, it's up to you, if you want to stay in that game forever, and then you won't make it in the next one.

"Or you can quickly analyse what happened, be honest with yourself, understand where we made mistakes that we cannot accept as a team, and that's what we did – not dramatising, and moving on as soon as possible.

"The players have – like I've said many times, we have a group of winners, and when we don't get the win, we don't feel good and that's also our fuel to go to the next one, maybe with 10-20 percent more hunger than usual."

The victory saw Pirates maintain their perfect start to the league, as they also moed to the summit of the log standing, and the Spaniard again highlighted the team's work rate to make it possible.

"If the four victories in a row is something expected or not, it doesn't matter. I think what I can say is that we were really working hard to make it possible that, that's what we do," he added.

"So far in the league, we are doing a really good job – the guys are performing at a really good level, and today, in defence especially, I think the team was really good.

"So it's about working for it, more than expecting to get victories, and that part of the job has been really good with the group so far, and tomorrow we start again [before] we meet AmaZulu here in two days, and we want to go for the fifth [win in a row], hopefully."
