Josip Stanisic hopes for permanent Bayer Leverkusen move amid great form

Josip Stanisic, currently on loan at Bayer Leverkusen from Bayern Munich, has expressed a desire to make his stay permanent, according to Sky Germany.

The Croatian international defender, loaned out in August 2023, initially struggled to secure playing time at Leverkusen.

However, his fortunes changed dramatically after the New Year, as he became a key figure in the team's pursuit of three major titles.

Stanisic, 24, has had a standout week with Leverkusen, highlighted by his crucial performances. He scored a pivotal equalizer in the Europa League second leg against Roma last Thursday and followed it up with a goal and an assist in Leverkusen's dominant 5-0 Bundesliga victory over Bochum on Sunday.

Leverkusen have been made aware of Stanisic™s wish to remain with the club beyond his loan period, which ends this summer.

Discussions between Bayern and Leverkusen regarding a potential permanent transfer are expected to occur at the season's conclusion.

Bayern, known for frequently buying from their rivals, might be hesitant to sell to a direct competitor. Nevertheless, Stanisic's contract with Bayern runs until 2026, and he is valued at approximately ‚¬18 million.

This valuation and the player's recent form could influence Bayern's decision-making process.

Stanisic's performances have drawn praise and optimism from Leverkusen fans and management alike, who hope that his contributions can continue beyond the current campaign.

The final decision rests with Bayern Munich, who will weigh their options carefully in the upcoming transfer discussions.
