Josko Gvardiol: My goal is to play in the Premier League

Leipzig centre-back Josko Gvardiol admits that playing in the Premier league is his dream destination.

Gvardiol, a star of Croatia's World Cup campaign at just 21 years of age, was speaking to the times when he revealed that Chelsea were 'very interested' in his services and that it is his goal to play in the Premier League.

Speaking to The Times, he says: "My agent called me and said Chelsea are very interested and of course you consider a serious offer from a big club like Chelsea. Leipzig said they don't want to sell me. In the end, I really struggled with this decision, but we didn't reach an agreement. It is like it is. I'm here, and that's a good thing, because my idea was to stay here. One season wasn't enough. This is my second season, even another season would be great, but we'll see.

The Croat also received interest from Manchester City for his services as the two sides meet on Wednesday in UEFA Champions League ROund of 16 action.

RB welcomes Manchester City in the Champions League round of 16 on Wednesday. For Gvardiol it will be the second duel with striker Erling Haaland (22). In the Bundesliga, both players were already dealing with each other when Haaland was still playing for BVB. Leipzig won 4-1, the Norwegian remained goalless. Gvardiol: œI think he's a lot better than he was in this game. We've already seen what he's capable of in the Premier League. I'm looking forward to the game."
