Jude Bellingham stars as Real Madrid set up Clasico showdown

Real Madrid have secured their place in Sunday's Clasico against Barcelona following a hard-fought 3-0 victory over a resilient Mallorca side in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final.

Unlike last year's clash that marked a turning point for Xavi Hernandez, Barcelona head into this encounter in much stronger form, both on the pitch and off it.

Madrid showcased their quality with a cohesive performance, spearheaded by Jude Bellingham, who was once again instrumental in attack, and Eduardo Camavinga, who dominated the midfield.

The win did not come easily, as Mallorca proved to be disciplined and dangerous, keeping the match competitive until stoppage time, when two late goals sealed the result.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti fielded his strongest line-up, signalling Madrid's intent to take the match seriously. The team piled on the pressure from the opening whistle, pinning Mallorca back.

Early chances for Lucas Vazquez and Rodrygo tested goalkeeper Dominik Greif, but the visitors defended valiantly. Despite relentless Madrid attacks, Mallorca showed their resilience, with Muriqi and Dani Rodriguez causing occasional problems for the hosts on the counter.

Vinicius Junior found himself embroiled in a physical battle with Pablo Maffeo, a duel that saw heated moments and frequent fouls. "Vinicius needs to stay focused on the game," Ancelotti has said in the past, and the Brazilian's frustration was evident when he switched flanks with Kylian Mbappe midway through the first half.

Mallorca entered the second half with renewed energy and looked threatening from wide areas. However, Madrid broke the deadlock when Bellingham capitalised on a rebound following a quick break initiated by Rodrygo and Vinicius. The Englishman's clinical finish reaffirmed his status as Madrid's attacking linchpin.

Late substitutions added further energy to the game. A deflected cross from Lucas Vazquez forced an own goal from Copete, and Rodrygo celebrated his birthday with a well-taken header to cap off Madrid's win.

The match ended on a sour note with tempers flaring, but Madrid's performance was enough to set up a highly anticipated clash with Barcelona.

Sunday's Clasico promises to be a thrilling encounter, with both teams eager to assert their dominance in Spanish football.
