Jwaneng Galaxy’s Morena Ramoreboli says patience will be key against Orlando Pirates

Faced with the daunting task of overturning Orlando Pirates' 2-0 lead from the first leg of the second round in the Preliminary stage of the CAF Champions League, Jwaneng Galaxy head coach Morena Ramoreboli is drawing strength from the big games they have played previously of this magnitude.

Speaking during the match day minus one press conference at Orlando Stadium on Friday, Ramoreboli says their experience of having played against teams like Wydad Athletic in Casablanca and Simba SC in Dar Es Salaam, could come in handy for today’s big mission against the Bucs. He also talks about the importance of patience.

''I think we have played more matches of this magnitude, we have been to Morocco and have been to Ivory Coast  facing Asec in a packed stadium, so I don't think the issue of the crowd is a problem for us.

We have been here  before, so I think we need an element of patience, because when you are packing and rushing you leave valuable things behind, but when you are packing and not rushing you don't leave anything behind. So we need to understand that we are playing against people who have scored us two goals, and for them to win they don't have to concede,'' added Ramoreboli.

Galaxy came to Orlando Stadium last year and left broken hearts behind as Pirates failed to reach the CAFCL group stages after Ramoreboli’s team won on penalties to proceed. The South African-born coach, also fully understands that Pirates will be dangerous on the transitional play this evening.

''But let us be honest, we are playing Orlando Pirates at Orlando. And they will not sit deep and defend, even when they are playing against Sundowns they don't sit deep. And to be honest they are the only team in this country that knows how to give Sundowns a problem, they attack but are also good in defense. But we will try our level best to get a positive result,'' added Ramoreboli.

Ramoreboli believes that the difference between this season’s Pirates and last season’s team is the hunger to achieve and be in the next stage in this tournament. Basing this on what he saw from the first leg.

''I don't really think there's much changed, tactically they are still the same, in terms of how they do things. It is how much you want it, you can see the players are committed and we are facing Pirates in a stage were they are dominating MTN8, and for a reason this is period they have done something very special in their pre-season - where they know how to fast track performance vs competition,'' he expressed.

The clashes between Galaxy and Pirates have not been without drama; last year, in the first leg, Ramoeboli and his counterpart Jose Riveiro were involved in an altercation. Last week, Ramoreboli and Bucs assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi had another moment, but the former Bafana Bafana coach in the COSAFA Cup downplayed this incident.
