Kaitano Tembo impressed by Richards Bay's newly signed players

Richards Bay FC coach Kaitano Tembo says he was impressed by Nkululeko Miya and Thabani Mthembu's performances in Richards Bay's goalless draw against AmaZulu FC at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Miya and Mthembu were both signed from the ABC Motsepe side, Umsinga United at the beginning of the season.

He believes a growth in confidence shown by his players against Usuthu will lead up to them securing their first victory in six months.

Kaitano insists that he still needs to work on getting his players to be mentally strong.

"Yeah, obviously if you go that long without winning a game, something happens as well mentally. But at the same time I think it's our responsibility now to try and take the club out of that, motivate the players. Work on them mentally," Tembo said.

"So, for me it's a start especially from today's performance, it's a huge start. You can see players who are really growing confidence. I was quite happy with the opportunity that I gave to Nkululeko Miya, just now he was playing in the Vodacom [ABC Motsepe League] for Umsinga, so it was brave to throw him there.

As well as Thabani Mthembu with a little bit of luck there he could have gotten us a goal. So, those are the new players that we are trying to throw in there. Young players who've got hunger and desire. We still want to achieve more and I see a bright future for the club."

Facing Mamelodi Sundowns next in the league with their current form Kaitano insists he is not worried. He says his players needs no extra motivation to face the defending champions.

"Ya, it's worrying but at the same time I think it's an opportunity for the club to try and take a step further to improve from today's game because I don't think I need to try and motivate the players in that game. It's a stage every PSL player will want to be. It's also up to them to show who they are and if they are ready to play at that stage."
