He was responding to a question about the club only winning seven games in 2024.
The journalist qualified the question by saying he knows that it can be a bit unfair to Nabi, but can this be prevented from happening again?
Speaking after the 1-0 win over Chippa United, Nabi instead looks at this as part of the media driving certain angles around Chiefs.
"No man broer honestly, you think I will change because of the results? No. Why don't you accept that I came for a project, why do you refuse [as] the media? I give you a question, why do you refuse? because it's not good for you, the media,” Nabi said.
“You need a reaction for the people. If the coach is still in the process of rebuilding the team, don't provoke reactions for the fans and the business for yourself, this is not good."
Chiefs are now entering their 10th year, having last won some silverware.
As a football club with the biggest support base in the country, watching their arch-rivals Orlando Pirates win trophies and Mamelodi Sundowns continue their dominance in South African football is a bit too much for their fanbase.
Contrary to what Nabi is saying, the expectations aren’t from the media but from the club's fan base.
"This is no good, you push myself only for the games. I trust in my project with Kaizer Chiefs, I know you don't want to listen to this. Why, because I'm [talking about], rebuilding, rebuilding. You don't want to listen to rebuilding but I came to build, you want or you don't want. Do you understand me?" Nabi added.
Five of the seven wins from Chiefs in 2024 have been registered under Nabi, caretaker coach Cavin Johnson managed only two wins in 15 matches in the year's first half.
