Kaizer Chiefs held to goalless stalemate at home against Royal AM

Kaizer Chiefs failed to fire in front of goal as they were held to a goalless draw by Royal AM at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

The stalemate sees both teams maintain an identical record in the league after six matches, with two victories, two draws and two defeats to start the season.

Amakhosi came into the contest having unbeaten in their last three games in all competitions, including two consecutive wins in the league.

New signing Jasond Gonzalez was given start upfront but the Colombian did not have it easy as the service was not the best before being hauled off just after the hour mark.

Midfielder Yusuf Maart said before the game that Chiefs wanted to "dominate with the ball" and give the fans goals but it was the visitors that looked the likelier threat.

John Maduka's charges showed good composure defensively and always looked a threat going forward on the counter-attack as the hosts left spaces in behind.

Royal AM had a terrible start to their campaign but Maduka will be pleased with the character of his squad as they have won their last two matches in the league an now got a draw at the FNB stadium.
