Kaizer Chiefs' struggles continue in goalless stalemate with Polokwane City

Kaizer Chiefs could not cement a place in the top-eight after being held to a goalless by Polokwane City at the FNB Stadium.

Amakhosi still occupy the eighth position in the standings but are level on points with Polokwane and Amazulu ahead of the final round of fixtures next weekend.

The home side once again were disappointing in the final third as they did not create any clear-cut goal-scoring opportunities.

Chiefs' struggles in the front of goal was clearly shown and forwards Ashley Du Preez and Ranga Chivaviro were both hauled off by coach Cavin Johnson in the second half.

Mfundo Vilakazi, who is still a teenager, was given the responsibility of trying to make things happen upfront but the visitors were solid enough at the back.

Rise and Shine implemented their game plan to a tee and were value for the point gained and they could have won it at the death but substitute Stevens Goovadia saw his shot go just wide.

Amakhosi's final match in the campaign will take place next Saturday when they travel to already-relegated Cape Town Spurs while Polokwane's final encounter of the season is at home to high-flying TS Galaxy.
