Kaizer Chiefs still in the market for key positions - Kaizer Jr

Kaizer Chiefs sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr has confirmed the club is not done in the transfer market and reveals there are crucial positions they still need to fill.

Motaung said it’s important the newly-appointed coach Nasreddine Nabi has a balanced team for the new campaign, with Chiefs having signed three players – Rwandan goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari, and defenders Bongani Sam and Rushwin Dortley.

Motaung says they are still chasing more targets before the new Betway Premiership kicks off in September.

"We're definitely not done in the transfer market because there are some glaring positions in the squad that we need to reinforce," said Motaung Jr.

"We have a young squad at this moment, it's a squad that needs a bit of experience and a bit of quality, so we're very mindful of the demands placed on what's coming next season.

"So, to answer the question, we're working day and night behind the scenes to make sure we reinforce – we've gotten a bit of a clear roadmap of what kind of player we need in which positions, so we're definitely working towards that."

Chiefs played four training matches in Turkey, for which Nabi is expected to file a technical report, detailing everything they were working on in Europe, to the club's football department.

Motaung shared how the Tunisian tactician feels about his current squad.

"I think the coach is very well versed, he's done his research on the league and he's not just coming now and seeing a bunch of players – him and his staff are consummate professionals, and they've done a lot of their homework on our playing staff and what we need," he explained.

"He has a lot of positive feedback, and of course I know he'll be giving his report now towards the camp that's done, and we also have a bit of extended time until our next fixture, so it's going to give the coach more time to have a deeper look at certain players.

"He's very clear on the kind of player that he wants to be at this team, and he's very clear on the kind of football he wants to play, and very clear on the level of discipline and mentality he wants to work with.

"So, as it stands right now, it's definitely a work in progress, but our camp is done and I think a debrief of the way forward is what we'll now be focussing on."
