As the 2023/24 Bundesliga season looms just a fortnight away, Dortmund intensify their preparations in the United States. Eager to rekindle their challenge for the coveted Bundesliga trophy, the Black and Yellows seek redemption after narrowly missing out on the championship last season.
Adeyemi emerged as one of Dortmund's standout performers during the latter half of the previous campaign, captivating fans with his electrifying speed and assertive style that posed constant dilemmas for rival defenders.
In an interview with WAZ, the German international lamented the disappointment of falling short in the title race last season, but with unyielding determination, he affirmed his desire to hoist the Meisterschale with Dortmund.
"The frustration of not securing the victory and ultimately ending up in the runner-up spot was more profound than the injury I sustained on the final day of last season."
"After the season, I took a vacation to unwind immediately. Nonetheless, I am still young, and I harbour immense ambitions - one of which is to clinch the German championship with Borussia Dortmund."
Having joined Dortmund from RB Salzburg in July 2022, Adeyemi made a resounding impact in his debut season, netting nine goals and providing six assists for the club. The 21-year-old's impressive performances even triggered rumours of a potential shocking move to Real Madrid last month.
Nevertheless, with four years remaining on his current contract with Dortmund, Adeyemi dismissed the speculation, reaffirming his unwavering focus on achieving greatness with his current club.
Regarding the interest from the Spanish giants, Adeyemi responded with composure, dismissing the rumours as an inevitable part of professional football.
"I stumbled upon those reports on the internet and found myself taken aback. Such rumours are customary in the world of football."
"For now, I am not giving it much thought. My sole concentration lies in a singular pursuit - achieving our goals with Borussia Dortmund."
