Kholosa Biyana in line for milestone Banyana Banyana cap

Banyana Banyana midfielder Kholosa Biyana is set to join an elite group of South African players to have reached 50 senior international caps when she next runs out for the national team.

The 30-year-old is currently sitting on 49 appearances for her country, having made her debut against Lesotho in the 2017 COSAFA Women’s Championship.

The African champions are currently in Europe and will face Denmark on Friday, before tackling England next Tuesday, and an appearance in either of these will land her the milestone.

"It's great, it shows consistency from myself, it shows hard work. It all started in 2017, and I'm glad I'm getting that milestone now," said Biyana.

"A few days ago, Themba [Zwane] celebrated that too, and it's good for us at Mamelodi Sundowns, but it's great and I'm happy that I'm getting to that milestone."

The Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies star says being an ever present in the national team is no easy feat, and it took her seven years to reach this landmark.

"It's 50 matches in seven years – I think that's a long time. I think, most importantly, it's the hard work and consistency [behind achieving this]," she added.

"It's always easy to get into the national team, but being consistent, I think, is the problem, and I'm glad that I'm one of the players who are going to reach that – hopefully I'll get a few minutes in."
