Kholosa Biyana says Downs must play one game at a time as they urge closer to the title

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies midfielder Kholosa Biyana says they cannot afford to lift their foot off the pedal to claim their sixth league trophy in a row.

The Brazilians are on the brink of another Hollywoodbets Super League title with four matches remaining.

If fellow title challengers University of the Western Cape keep winning, the Brazilians will need seven points to be crowned champions.

Sundowns Ladies face the already relegated Thunderbirds Ladies in East London this afternoon, while UWC is up against Durban Ladies in Cape Town.

Biyana, a former UWC player, says the focus must be on the games, not the points.

"I think more than anything, we are left with four games to play and that is very important. I think this season is going to be interesting, we are just going to take it one game at a time, it's important for us to push until the end and try and defend the league as much as possible,” Biyana said.

“I think consistency, take it one game at a time because all teams that we are going to play are different and we have tough oppositions, we are still going to play UWC, it's going to be an interesting one."

Biyana, who hails from the Eastern Cape, has been saddened by the relegation of Thunderbirds Ladies from the Hollywoodbets Super League.

Their departure leaves the province with only two teams – newcomers University of Fort Hare and the struggling City Lads Ladies.

"I think it is just sad but at the same time, I think it's consequences. I think most importantly we need people to start investing, they've been through a lot and there are a lot of challenges, especially for teams coming from the Eastern Cape,” she added.

“I hope they come back soon, it's so sad to see them go down. I think we still have two more teams, it's just that they are my ex-team and I hope they will come back soon to the league."
