Kholosa Biyana taking the match performance analysis and scouting path

Inspired by her Banyana Banyana and Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies teammate Andisiwe Mgcoyi, midfield enforcer Kholosa Biyana is now starting her own path and preparing for her post-playing career but not in the coaching space.

Biyana was one of the more than 50 coaches and aspiring match performance analysts and technical scouts who graced the SM Sports analysts and scouting symposium in Gqeberha this past weekend.

She has already been doing some analysis for the University of Western Cape (UWC) team that recently won the Varsity Cup, and this i9s the path she’s looking to take.

"I think it's because most females, they all want to go into coaching actually and I think they also don't realise that they are some other branches that you can go into and I think this one of them and that's where I saw that there was a gap and there was a lot of opportunities,” Biyana said.

“But with this, you just need to do a lot of research and just be dedicated and try and get as much information as we can. Some of them, don't look into referring and I think you can do a lot.

“So, there's a lot more than just being a coach, there's a lot you can do in football and contribute to the game. I've been with the UWC Varsity men's team and we just won the Varsity Cup which is great but we started in the USSA's and people were laughing at me, asking what am I doing there and stuff like that but yeah, it's paying off."

Mgcoyi and her other Sundowns Ladies teammate Rhoda Mulaudzi, are leading the Sundowns Ladies youth teams and Biyana says she’s now started creating a pathway for herself but in the performance analysis and scouting space.

"Definitely, this is a great initiative and for me, in reality, if you look at it, I think it's time, I should start but I started like four years ago. So, this is beautiful to see that we are coming back and we are empowering our coaches, true education is key."
