Kholosa Biyana: Women’s Cup a great test for Sundowns Ladies

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies midfielder Kholosa Biyana believes the Women’s Cup is a great test for the players to gauge where they are on an international level.

The Brazilians were defeated 3-0 by Kansas City Current in the opening match of the four-team tournament played at the iconic CPCK Stadium in Missouri, USA.

Speaking to the media after the match, Biyana said matches like these will help them improve on all levels.

"I think it's great for us, we need to test ourselves and see where we are at, especially coming from South Africa, and it will also help us improve and work on a lot of things," said Biyana.

"I think the exposure for us is great, and there's an opportunity for all players to raise their hands and see where they are compared to the world's best [teams], but overall I think it was a great game."

Biyana added, despite the loss, they represented Africa in a positive way and can only learn from their experience.

"The players, especially, and the technical team learned a lot, and I think we displayed great football from Africa – I think we represented Africa in a great way," she added.

"It's not over yet, we have another game to play. We wanted to win this game, but I think we gave our all and we can only learn and improve from here. But I think we had a great experience and it was a good display from us."
