Kovsies feeling pressure to make Hollywoodbets Super League

Kovsies FC coach in the Sasol League, Jabulile Baloyi says there is a lot of pressure on her and the team to do well in the Sasol League National Play-offs next month.

The Free State province has not had a team in the Hollywoodbets Super League since the relegation of Tsunami Queens in 2022.

In addition, Bloemfontein Celtic Ladies relocated to KwaZulu-Natal and changed their name to Royal AM, and Baloyi says expectations are high from everyone in the province, with two spots up for grabs at the Play-offs

"There's a lot of expectation from the province, as we know there is no team from the Free State currently in the Hollywoodbets [Super League]," said Baloyi.

"So there's that pressure to say, everyone is expecting that a team [from Free State] that goes through to the National Play-offs needs to do well and get to the final of the competiton."

Baloyi comes with a lot of experience, having coached the South African U20 Women’s National team and TS Galaxy Queens in the HWBSL, among others, but that also brings added pressure on her.

"There's a lot of pressure on me, looking at my CV, to say that, I recently won the CUCSA [Confederation of University and College Sports Association] Region 5 games as head coach of the USSA [University Sport South Africa] national team," she added.

"There's also pressure that I've coached in the Hollywoodbets [SL] and that I've qualified UJ in 2019 to play in the Hollywoodbets [SL], so there's a lot of pressure.

"It would be quite an achievement, because when we get promotion as Kovises Women's Football, it will mean this is the second university team that I get to coach and the team makes it to the premier division."
