Lamine Yamal earns high praise from Barcelona's Frenkie de Jong

At the premiere of 'FC Barcelona: A New Era' season two, Frenkie de Jong didn't hold back his admiration for the 16-year-old star Lamine Yamal.

This young prodigy has taken Barcelona and Spain by storm, setting records and capturing hearts in both club and international football.

De Jong, a key figure at Barcelona, expressed his admiration for Yamal's extraordinary talent but also stressed the importance of the teenager's continuous development.

Speaking to Movistar+, de Jong said, "He has something special, but he is still very young. He can already give us a lot at the moment. But he has many years ahead of him and has room for improvement, like everyone else. If he keeps improving and working well, he has a very high ceiling."

Barcelona are gearing up for their UEFA Champions League campaign, commencing with a Group H showdown against Royal Antwerp. After two consecutive seasons of group stage eliminations, the pressure is on for a strong start.

De Jong acknowledged the need for action, saying, "We haven't qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League two years in a row, so we can't talk too much; we have to prove it on the pitch first. We have confidence, but we have to play the games."

Comparing this year's group to the previous season, De Jong noted, "It's true that last year's group looked to be more difficult than this year's."

Despite being one of Barcelona's standout performers this season, De Jong remains humble, emphasizing his room for improvement: "I still have a lot of room for improvement."

In the world of football, Lamine Yamal's star continues to rise, and Barcelona are determined to shine brighter than ever in the Champions League campaign.
