Lamine Yamal trains with FC Barcelona after injury layoff

FC Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal is nearing full fitness after his recent ankle injury and has resumed partial training with the first team.

The talented winger, who suffered a Grade 1 syndesmosis injury in his right ankle during Barcelona's Champions League clash against Red Star Belgrade, is now targeting a return to the squad for Saturday's La Liga fixture against Las Palmas.

The 17-year-old prodigy has been sidelined for the past three weeks, missing Barcelona's last three matches, a defeat to Real Sociedad, a draw with Celta Vigo, and their Champions League victory over Brest.

He also missed international duty, with the club confirming earlier this month that his recovery timeline was set at two to three weeks.

Manager Hansi Flick expressed optimism about Yamal's return during his post-match comments following the Brest win.

"Lamine has joined partial training today, and we're hopeful he'll be ready for Saturday. His energy and creativity are crucial for us," said Flick, acknowledging the winger's importance to the team's attacking play.

While Yamal's return is eagerly anticipated, another Barcelona star, Ronald Araujo, is also edging closer to full fitness.

The Uruguayan defender, who has been out with a muscle issue, participated in parts of Wednesday's recovery session alongside his teammates. Araujo had already joined partial training on Sunday, showing promising signs of progress.

In Wednesday's training session, Flick also included Barca Atletic players Andres Cuenca and Guille Fernandez to bolster numbers as the team prepares for a crucial run of fixtures.

With Yamal and Araujo nearing comebacks, Barcelona fans will hope the duo's presence can help maintain momentum in both domestic and European competitions.
