Neo Mokhachane scored the only goal of the match, and coach Leslie Notsi has seen positive signs in a team being built for the future.
"We are quite satisfied with the performance of the boys and also I would like to give credit to the Mozambican team. They played a very good game and I think they brought the best out of our boys in terms of taking this platform of COSAFA tournament to have their boys play and improve the game. It was a game where one can say they really pushed us to the limit and we are happy that the boys came up with the three points," Notsi said.
Notsi was appointed three weeks ago to take over from coach Vaselin Jelusic following a string of poor results, and a decision was taken to call up a mixture of youth and experience for the COSAFA Cup.
According to Notsi, they’ve adjusted well to the international demands.
"We are quite satisfied, those youngsters like Neo Mokhachane, Tshepang Sefali and Malane [Thabang], they've seized the opportunity. They've enjoyed themselves, played according to the plan and I think everybody within the team setup has given his all. So, we are quite happy with how things have gone so far," the coach explained.
The coach says he will use the third and final game in Group C against Angola on Wednesday to give more of the fresh faces game time.
"We are intending that for the next match, we'll try as hard as we can to rotate the players because now, this match was quite tight and the weather conditions, their legs are now getting fatigued. So, we need to see to it that we rotate and give other boys an opportunity to play."
