Lindokuhle Mtshali among Moroka Swallows’ first exits

SABC Sport can confirm attacking midfielder Lindokuhle Mtshali will become the first player to leave Moroka Swallows at the end of the month.

But his pending departure has little to do with The Dube Birds currently being in talks to sell their DStv Premiership status – rather, the 26-year-old is in the final weeks of his contract after spending two seasons at the club.

The two parties have not agreed on an extension, and it’s understood Mtshali is already in discussions with other topflight sides, given he will soon be a free agent and can immediately join the team of his choice.

The former Golden Arrows player was an important figure for Swallows in their fight to avoid relegation for two successive seasons.

Having made a total of 25 appearances for the Dobsonville-based outfit in helping coach Musa Nyatama finish 14th – just two points above Richards Bay, who have been dragged into the promotion/relegation play-offs.

The public broadcaster understands Mtshali will now leave Swallows in the same manner he joined them – a free agent without the Soweto outfit getting any money for his transfer when the window officially opens on 1 July.

In his debut season with the club, the speedy attacker was almost ever-present as he only missed two of their 30 league matches.

SABC Sport has been informed Mtshali is keen to remain in Gauteng as he searches for his next destination, but remains open for any opportunity in the elite division.
