The match began with Accrington showing resilience, managing to keep Liverpool at bay through the early exchanges.
Despite creating chances, including a notable miss by Darwin Nunez, Liverpool found the breakthrough just before the half-hour mark. Following an Accrington free kick, Liverpool launched a swift counter, with Diogo Jota finishing off a precise low cross by Nunez.
The scoreline doubled right before halftime when Trent Alexander-Arnold unleashed a spectacular 20-yard shot into the top corner, leaving goalkeeper William Crellin with no chance.
This goal came at a crucial time for Alexander-Arnold, highlighting his quality after a challenging week.
After the break, Accrington opted for a more attacking strategy, which nearly paid dividends. Josh Woods struck the crossbar from a well-worked corner in the 56th minute.
Another chance from a set piece was squandered by Donald Love, who, despite being unmarked, headed over from close range.
Liverpool's complacency was almost their undoing, but they regained control with a third goal.
Youngster Jayden Danns, introduced as a substitute, scored within minutes of coming onto the pitch, capitalizing on a rebound after Federico Chiesa's effort was saved.
Chiesa, who had earlier hit the post, sealed the victory with a fine low drive from outside the box in the dying moments, marking his first goal for Liverpool and rounding off the scoreline at 4-0.
Accrington, despite their spirited display, were unable to muster a consolation goal, as Liverpool's defense held firm, securing a clean sheet and their first win of the new year.
This result sees Liverpool move forward in the FA Cup, showcasing both their depth and determination.
Liverpool coach Arne Slot praised the performance of Rio Ngumoha after his Liverpool debut in the FA Cup victory over Accrington.
Slot handed a maiden outing to Ngumoha, the 16-year-old winger who became the club's second-youngest player in history.
Ngumoha, signed from Chelsea last summer, impressed down the left flank, especially in the first half. And Slot believes that the England youth international displayed why he's rated by the Reds. The Liverpool boss told ITV Sport: "He did well. There were a few moments where the fans could see why we think he's a talent. He is good in one-v-one situations.
"He showed a bit more in the first half than in the second half. It is nice to get your debut and get the win. It is a special day for him."
