Liverpool eye Alphonso Davies amid busy January window

Liverpool's interest in Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies has taken centre stage in the January transfer rumour mill.

According to Sport Bild's Christian Falk, the Reds are among the clubs vying for the Canadian defender's signature, although Real Madrid and Manchester United are considered favourites for a summer move should Davies depart Bayern.

With his contract expiring at the end of the season, Bayern Munich are still hopeful of reaching a renewal agreement.

Under the stewardship of new head coach Arne Slot, who took charge in the summer, Liverpool have surged to the top of the Premier League and Champions League standings.

Slot, aiming to clinch a major trophy in his debut season, is reportedly keen to strengthen the squad further during the January transfer window.

Liverpool's recruitment team is expected to be highly active next month, targeting reinforcements in defence and attack.

The club made limited additions in the summer, signing Federico Chiesa and securing Giorgi Mamardashvili, who remains on loan at Valencia until next season.

While a mid-season swoop for Davies remains uncertain, Falk believes Liverpool has a "chance" to secure the Canadian international in January.
