Liverpool's Fabio Carvalho signs for Brentford

Liverpool forward Fabio Carvalho has signed a five-year contract with Premier League rivals Brentford.

The 21-year-old will initially cost the Bees £22.5million with a further £5million in add-ons, with Liverpool also entitled to a 17.5 percent sell-on fee for a player they bought from Fulham for £5million two years ago.

Carvalho's contract also includes an additional one-year extension option.

"Fabio is a player with a lot of qualities. He can play in all of the front three or four positions in a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1. His best position is probably as a number 10 or coming in from the left," head coach Thomas Frank told the club's website.

"Offensively, he has great abilities on the ball: he can go past players, slide a pass, create chances and get on the end of chances. He's a type of player that we don't have many of in the squad so he will add that something extra for us.

"His ability and mentality to work hard in the pressure is also very, very good.

"That's along with him ticking all the boxes from a cultural perspective and being the right character. So we're very pleased to see him come in and push the team forward."

Carvalho spent last season on loan at RB Leipzig and then Hull, where he scored nine goals in 20 appearances.

AC Milan have completed the signing of defender Emerson Royal from Tottenham.

The 25-year-old Brazil international has agreed a four-year contract with the Serie A club, with the option of a further 12 months.

Emerson scored four goals in 101 appearances for Spurs after joining from Barcelona in 2021 for a reported fee of £25.8million.

"We have reached agreement with AC Milan for the transfer of Emerson Royal," read a statement on the Premier League club's website.

"We wish Emerson all the best for the future."

Chelsea defender Caleb Wiley will spend next season on loan at French Ligue 1 side Strasbourg.

The Blues signed the 19-year-old left-back from Atlanta United last month and following his stint at the Olympic Games with the USA, he will join up with the club that is now being coached by Liam Rosenior.

"We look forward to supporting his development throughout the season," a Chelsea statement said.

Wiley, who was born and raised in Atlanta, signed a six-year contract with Chelsea after joining for a fee in the region of £8.5million.

Ben Knight has left Manchester City to join Spanish side Real Murcia on a permanent deal.

The 22-year-old midfielder, who has previously had loan spells at Crewe and Stockport, made his only competitive City appearance in the 2021 Community Shield.
