Liverpool's £35m bid with add-ons for Romeo Lavia has reportedly been rejected by the midfielder's current club Southampton.
Despite already securing Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai this summer, Liverpool aim to make further transfers.
In July, Liverpool was competing with Arsenal and Chelsea for Southampton's Lavia, given the possible sales of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson.
Fabinho's move to Al Ittihad faced temporary snags due to payment negotiations, while Henderson seemed headed to Al Ettifaq.
Sources confirm Southampton's rejection of Liverpool's £35m bid for Lavia, deeming it far below their valuation.
Southampton demands at least £50m for the impressive 19-year-old midfielder, despite their relegation to the Championship.
They are in no rush to sell, considering potential income from James Ward-Prowse's sale, and are open to retaining Lavia if the valuation isn't met.
Lavia, a standout young midfielder, joined Southampton last year from Manchester City.
Manchester City holds a £40m buy-back clause, active next year if Lavia remains. Arsenal and Chelsea also keep tabs on the situation, while Manchester United and Newcastle have shifted focus to other targets.
