Rob Edwards praised "top coach" Marco Silva for his success at Fulham which saw them seal a top-half finish in the Premier League last season.
While the Cottagers have already claimed four ponts from their opening four games of the new Premier League season, Luton continue the search for their first points.
Hatters boss Edwards though was quick to applaud his opposite number, who kept the west London side in the division last season despite being a newly-promoted team.
"You can see he's a possession-based coach and wants his team to dominate the ball," Edwards said of Silva.
"I don't think you get promoted in the manner they did and have the season they had last year if they didn't have a very good manager. He's a top coach, who's got a very good way with his players, top ideas and you can see how he wants his team to play.
"He's a very intelligent coach with some very good players and he's someone who has had a very good career."
Edwards highlighted the difficulty of the Premier League after watching his side open up with three straight defeats to Brighton, Chelsea and West Ham.
He has called for his players to embrace the challenge and to change opinions through improved performances.
"The players aren't feeling sorry for themselves," Edwards added.
"We lost a few games and we knew it was going to be difficult, but we've got to love this challenge and this opportunity. We're in the best league in the world and eyes will be on us.
"People are going to have their opinions and they're going to say what they're going to say, but it's down to us to prove people wrong and to embrace this challenge and the players are doing that.
"The players are coming in with a smile on their face and want to improve, and so do I, and it hurts to lose, but we want to keep improving and if our performances do improve like they have in the first few games then we'll start picking up points."
Luton have played one less game than majority of the Premier League due to construction work at Kenilworth Road.
And Edwards welcomed the gaps between fixtures and the international break, which has allowed them to prepare more thoroughly.
He said: "I don't mind it to be honest (playing less matches) because it's allowed us to train really hard and work on certain things which we need to build on, so having that extra break has allowed us to get some quality work in during training.
"The international break is out of our control, but we try look at it as a real positive."
