Lyle Foster and Burnley suffer Premier League relegation

Burnley were relegated from the Premier League following their 2-1 defeat to Tottenham on Saturday.

Vincent Kompany's Clarets needed all three points to keep their survival hopes alive, but after scoring first through Jacob Bruun Larsen on 25 minutes, the London side struck back as Pedro Porro equalised seven minutes later.

Micky van de Ven then settled the tie as he netted a winner at the Totenham Hotspur Stadium in the 82nd minute.

The result saw Burnley end their afternoon in 19th place with 24 points, and unable to catch Nottingham Forest in 17th, with one match of the season to play - against Forest.

It is an immediate return to the Sky Bet Championship for Foster's side, who ended the previous campaign as league winners.

South African striker Foster, who scored five goals and provided three assists in 25 appearances for Burnley this season, had started the game against Spurs and was only withdrawn in the 87th minute, for David Datro Fofana.
