Mamelodi Sundowns coach predicts breakthrough year for Kutlwano Letlhaku

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Manqoba Mngqithi believes 18-year-old striker Kutlwano Letlhaku will be one of the club’s stand-out players this season.

The Soweto-born player joined Downs from the School of Excellence last year, and was handed his second senior team appearance against Stellenbosch FC in the 1-0 MTN8 semi-final first leg defeat on Wednesday night.

Mngqithi says he won’t shy away from throwing the youngster in the deep end.

"I can guarantee you he's going to be one of the big revelations this season, he has done exceptionally well from pre-season and he has scored some terrific goals," said Mngqithi.

"He's very instrumental in our attacking play, strong and very incisive in one-against-one, but he's got an eye for a goal and he's also a very good passer of the ball – even in this game [against Stellies], he played a very good pass for Themba [Zwane]."

The Sundowns mentor even predicted Letlhaku could be the country’s next big export to Europe.

"I think that boy is a very big talent, and if there's someone I think has a realistic chance of going overseas, it's that boy – I rate him very highly," he added.

"Technically he's very smooth, he's got very broad shoulders – he's never scared of anything and is ready to take on any challenge, so I see a very bright future ahead of him, but he must keep his feet on the ground and stay humble.

"We must also help him with that because I believe, if he can do that, there is a very big chance that he will be a big success at Sundowns."
