The Dube Birds played to a dull goalless draw against Chippa United at the Dobsonville Stadium, but with SuperSport United winning a few hours later Swallows dropped back down to third.
It’s an outcome Komphela was far from satisfied with, considering they still trail the Brazilians by 10 points.
"With regards to the one point, we'll take it. We would have loved to have three, position 2. Hey, the Sundowns gap is too big man, 24 points, we are 14 and both on eight [matches]. It's quite big. Even though we know Mamelodi Sundowns has raised the bar in many levels but I think we should try to put them under pressure. Make the league more competitive, they must feel the pressure. They can't be on cruise mode for too long," Komphela said.
The Swallows mentor admits they were not at their best, which ultimately meant they missed out on a chance to reduce the lead at the top.
Komphela adds the match was not easy on the eye.
"The second half just drained us, it was just stops, starts without any fluidity and even a person who was watching the match, I don't think they enjoyed the second half.
Only here and there, one would have loved to have a game that is more fluid, coming from either side. I don't know if it's maybe your tactical matches or stalemates or whatever it is but personally, I didn't enjoy the match."
