Mgcoyi has had a stint with the African Champions and scored in the 1-0 win against the same West Africans back in 2012 in a Women’s Africa Cup of Nations group states match.
The towering forward, who also doubles as the Girls U15 head coach at her club, alongside fellow striker Rhoda Mulaudzi, says it’s games like these where coaches fix instead of going for a win.
"It's a game where you can assess where you need to fix as a coach. If for example one of your defenders is injured, then you asses who you can use to replace them when going to an important game. Your midfielders, when someone is not available who you can call,” Mgcoyi said.
“This friendly came at the right time so that coach Desiree can build a strong squad with no pressure and using these friendly games I know coaches want to win but speaking as a coach I wouldn't put myself under pressure to win these friendlies but I will use them to build the squad that will win upcoming tournaments."
In the Hollywoodbets Super League, Mgcoyi is confident that there is still no team that is capable of dethroning defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies.
She says they are not yet feeling any pressure, and as long as players are focused, they will continue doing well.
The Brazilians currently lead the table on 34 points – three ahead of second-placed University of Johannesburg.
"Without underestimating teams but with the group of players we have at Sundowns and the hard work we put on at training, me personally I don't see any pressure. I feel like with this group that coach Jerry (Tshabalala) [has], we've been working together for a long time and we know what he wants as a coach. The younger players that he has just signed are gelling in, in the team. Honestly, I don't see any team stopping us from winning the league," she added.
