Man City defender Nathan Ake ruled out for three months after foot surgery

Manchester City defender Nathan Ake will be sidelined for three months after undergoing foot surgery.

The 30-year-old Netherlands international had to leave the pitch at half-time during Saturday's FA Cup victory over Plymouth due to an injury he described as "bothering me for months."

Ake underwent the procedure on Monday and later shared a photo of himself on social media.

"This season has been incredibly frustrating for me, but I've now had successful surgery on a foot fracture that has been causing me issues for months," he wrote.

"I'm staying positive about the future. Time to rest and recover. See you soon, Cityzens, and thank you for your ongoing support."

So far this season, Ake has made just 18 appearances due to a series of minor injuries.

Other defenders, John Stones and Manuel Akanji, were also absent from Saturday's fifth-round victory over Plymouth due to injuries.
