Reports from Fichajes have indicated that Pep Guardiola has been impressed by the 22-year-old forward's "spectacular" start to the season, where he notched up five goals and five assists in just eight appearances.
Guardiola's interest in Adeyemi stems from his remarkable versatility. While primarily a left-winger, he also excels on the right flank and can operate as a centre-forward. This adaptability aligns perfectly with City's fluid attacking style, making him an invaluable asset.
Guardiola noted Adeyemi's potential to "increase City's goal threat and create a host of chances for Erling Haaland," suggesting that a partnership between the two could be devastating for opposing defences.
Adeyemi's explosive season included a standout hat-trick against Celtic, showcasing his ability to perform on the biggest stagesâan attribute that Guardiola greatly admires.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have also shown interest in the player, reportedly being informed that he could be acquired for a "fair" price of around â¬45 million, a significant profit for Dortmund after paying â¬30 million for him last year.
City's financial strength and recent dominance in the Premier League may give them an advantage if a bidding war ensues. Adeyemi's arrival would prompt questions about his role in Guardiola's already stacked squad.
While competition exists on the left with Jack Grealish and Jeremy Doku, his flexibility could secure him regular playing time in various attacking roles.
Born in Munich in January 2002, Adeyemi's journey began at Bayern Munich's academy before he made a significant move to Red Bull Salzburg, where he netted 33 goals in 94 appearances.
His subsequent transfer to Dortmund in 2022 aimed to cultivate him into their next star following Haaland's departure.
After a slow start, Adeyemi's resurgence has caught the eye of top clubs across Europe, firmly placing him on the radar of Manchester City and Liverpool as they prepare for a potential transfer battle.
