Marcel Koller backs Al Ahly charges to claim record 11th CAF Champions League title

Al Ahly head coach Marcel Koller is convinced his team can finish the job after winning the first leg of the CAF Champions League against Wydad.

The team aims to reclaim the coveted title from Wydad Athletic Club at the Cairo International Stadium on Sunday, 11 June.

Securing a draw or avoiding defeat in the upcoming match would be sufficient for the Egyptian giants to clinch their 11th premier continental championship, further extending their record.

Koller is optimistic of his team's chances as they head into the crucial second leg with a 2-1 aggregate lead.

"I am delighted with the victory," said Koller after the home first-leg on Sunday.

"The final is always difficult because it is a meeting between the two best teams on the continent. We performed well as a team and deserved the victory.

"We did not lose and I am certain we are able to score a goal in Morocco which will give us a good advantage for a positive result."

On the late goal they conceded, he added: "It was a mistake because these were not the instructions given by the technical staff.

"We made hasty decisions and ran forward more instead of keeping the ball and we ended up conceding the goal."
