Marcelo Allende responds to missing out on PSL awards

Mamelodi Sundowns talisman Marcelo Allende says he is disappointed in missing out on more trophies with the club last season than personal accolades.

The Chilean midfielder was again one of the stand out players for The Brazilians during their title winning 2023/24 campaign, but did not receive any individual awards.

Speaking ahead of their MTN8 quarterfinal clash against Polokwane City on Sunday, Allende insists clinching the CAF Champions League would have been better.

''I prefer the trophy, you know, that is the most important thing. Winning the Nedbank, the MTN8 and the champions league. So it is the challenge I have this year, so an individual accolade for me does not matter,'' said Allende.

Now heading into his third season at Sundowns, the 25-year-old believes this could be yet another significant campaign with the Tshwane giants.

''I'm happy here,  because I play a lot of games. When players play a lot of games, they improve. And that is what I want this season to play, play, play,'' added Marcelo Allende

Allende also agrees with the criticism that he doesn’t score enough goals.

''Of course, every player has their different challenges. I think now I will create more goals for me and for Sundowns,'' he concluded.
