Marco Reus heads to LA Galaxy after Dortmund departure

Borussia Dortmund have experienced significant changes in their squad during the summer transfer window, highlighted by the departure of club legend Marco Reus.

Reus, 35, whose contract expired at the end of the season, chose to leave Dortmund in search of more playing time.

The decision for Reus to exit was influenced by Dortmund's vision for the future, where they intended to use him more sparingly behind Julian Brandt.

Reus, however, was keen to continue his career where he could feature more prominently, leading to the amicable parting of ways between player and club.

After much speculation about his next move, Reus has reportedly decided to join the LA Galaxy.

Initially linked to various MLS clubs, he is said to have  eventually settled on a deal with the Galaxy until December 2025, with an option for extension, according to insider Fabrizio Romano.

Galaxy are set to benefit from Reus's vast experience and skill, despite the injuries that have marred parts of his career.

Reus's tenure at Dortmund is nothing short of remarkable. Returning to his boyhood club in the 2012/13 season under Jurgen Klopp, he became a cornerstone of the team.

His impressive record includes 170 goals and 131 assists, making him Dortmund's second-highest scorer of all time. His leadership and influence were felt both on and off the pitch, especially during his time as the club captain.

Although Reus has left Dortmund, his legacy remains. Fans will remember his significant contributions and the memorable moments he created at the Westfalenstadion.

As he begins his new chapter with the LA Galaxy, there is anticipation that he will continue to make an impact, bringing his quality and experience to the MLS.
