Marco Reus rejects claims of revolt against Edin Terzic at Dortmund

New LA Galaxy signing Marco Reus has denied involvement in an alleged "revolt" against former Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic during last season.

In an interview with Sport Bild, Reus firmly rejected the accusations, stating, "That is simply not true."

Reus, who spent over a decade at Dortmund and joined La Galaxy in August 2024, clarified that he maintained a professional relationship with Terzic, emphasising, "We've always had an open relationship over the years.

"You don't always have to agree or be best friends, but communication is key, and that's what we did."

While distancing himself from any notions of rebellion, Reus did acknowledge that he was one of the senior players who suggested the club bring in additional coaching support during a difficult spell last season.

"We were all unhappy with the situation. As someone who had been at the club for a long time, I felt it was my duty to speak up and suggest ways to improve things.

"It wasn't about Edin, it was about doing what was best for the team," Reus revealed. He highlighted that his intention was not to undermine Terzic but to find ways to help the team succeed.

Reports had previously surfaced from Bild suggesting that Mats Hummels, another senior figure at Dortmund, led a group of players in opposition to Terzic. However, Reus remained firm in his denial of any such involvement.

Looking ahead, Reus spoke positively about Nuri Sahin, who replaced Terzic. "Nuri was already a tactical mastermind as an assistant.

"He has an incredible eye for detail and was always jotting down notes. I could tell early on that he would make a great coach," Reus remarked.

His words reflect the respect Sahin has earned from former teammates, signalling a hopeful future for the club under his leadership.
