Marcus Krosche extends stay as Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director

Eintracht Frankfurt have tied down sporting director Markus Krosche to a new contract in a boost for the Bundesliga outfit.

The new deal expires on June 30, 2028. Krösche and Philip Holzer, chairman of the supervisory board of Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG, spoke at a press conference at the ProfiCamp in Deutsche Bank Park on Wednesday.

"From our side, i.e. from the committees, this was no surprise. In the last six to eight weeks we have had various conversations, individually with Markus and together. The team worked very well together. Markus is exactly the right man to continue on the path we have described over the last three years," said Holzer.

"We also paused and reflected on the time. Markus certainly came to us in a difficult phase. We have since won the Europa League, reached the Champions League and reached the round of 16, and played internationally for the third time in a row this season. This is connected to Markus and his structured, meticulous work.

He harmonizes excellently with the board of directors, the types fit. That was also an important basis for the decision as to why he extended. We are very confident in his work. The supervisory board's primary task is to assess things over the longer term. We are on a very good path.

We have one of the youngest and most exciting squads in the Bundesliga with a lot of development potential. We knew that a change was coming, and it came last summer. If someone in the committees had told us in the summer that we would reach sixth place, then we would all have signed it - we view this place very positively and hope and believe that today's news will give us a boost to achieve sixth place to defend and also play internationally next year.

Krosche is not resting on his laurels and is intent on helping the club grow from strength to strength.

"Almost three years ago, when I started, we set goals. Looking back, we achieved all of the goals in phases and even exceeded them in some cases," said Krosche.

"In the last few weeks we have talked about our shared path and also the current situation. We quickly came to the decision that we wanted to continue working together.

"The path we have taken is not yet over. We have achieved a lot, but we also still have a lot to do. We are in a year of upheaval with many changes, we have many new young players and a new coaching team. It is important that we have continuity and continue on this path because we believe in it. I am pleased that we have reached an agreement."
