Marcus Rashford's Milan move from Man Utd 'imminent' as talks heat up

The future of Manchester United's Marcus Rashford is becoming clearer as AC Milan prepare to step up their interest with a formal approach.

Rashford, who has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford, might find himself donning the iconic red and black of Milan sooner rather than later.

Rashford's 20-year tenure with Manchester United appears set to conclude in 2025, with the 27-year-old admitting he is open to new challenges. Despite his preference for a move to Spain, financial constraints at clubs like Barcelona and the lack of interest from Real Madrid have made a transfer there unlikely.

Additionally, Rashford has declined offers from Saudi Arabia, indicating his desire to continue his career in Europe.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported on X, "AC Milan are among several clubs set to hold talks to discuss conditions of Marcus Rashford loan deal for January. More clubs around Europe expected to approach Man United to understand how they can make it happen. Early stages so far, but movements around Marcus Rashford set to start."

Sky Sports' senior reporter Melissa Reddy has weighed in on the situation, confirming Milan's interest but highlighting potential issues. "The ideal situation would be if Marcus Rashford lands a permanent transfer," Reddy said. "The player has said he's open to a move. It's quite clear that Ruben Amorim hasn't seen what he wants from Rashford, on the pitch or off it, and Man Utd are in a sell-to-buy position.

"However, that solution is very far off given the financial parameters involved."

The crux of the negotiation lies in the deal structure; Manchester United prefer a permanent sale, while Milan lean towards a loan with an option or obligation to buy. A significant hurdle in this potential transfer is Rashford's weekly salary of 325,000 pounds, which would need subsidizing by United for any loan to be feasible.

Reddy noted, "That would largely depend on how much of his salary United would still cover."

With Milan's spirits buoyed by a dramatic turnaround against Inter in the Italian Super Cup, fans might have more to cheer about if Rashford's transfer materializes.

In other transfer news, Manchester United have also been active, making contact with Paris Saint-Germain's left-back Nuno Mendes to bolster their options for Amorim's preferred 3-4-3 system.

They are also considering Lecce's Patrick Dorgu as a more budget-friendly option. Moreover, United are one of several clubs, including Tottenham and Juventus, interested in securing PSG's striker Randal Kolo Muani on loan, showcasing their intent to strengthen the squad this transfer window.
